Lawn Fertilizer Service & More

From lawn fertilizer service to weed control to insect and pest control in your lawn, we can provide what you need to achieve a healthy and green lawn. Use the tabs below to learn more about each of the services we provide:

Complete Graphical Soil Analysis

A soil analysis reveals the pH of your soil, and nutrient levels in the soil, allowing us to know what fertilization or lime needs your lawn requires. Each soil analysis is comprised of 25 to 30 subsamples, taken from each area of interest at your site. These are mixed together and sent to the lab for analysis. The results, and our recommendations, are then sent to you. Each soil analysis costs $30 and the results are yours to keep.

Fertilization & Weed Control Programs

Our customized fertilization and weed control programs are designed to meet your goals and to ensure that you have a healthy and beautiful lawn all season long. Find out more about our process.

Mulch Bed Weed Control

Controlling weeds in your mulch beds keeps your beds beautiful and your plants healthy. Our program can control a number of weeds in mulch beds and growing in ground covers. These programs are custom tailored to your site and goals. We often begin with a granular pre-emergent to keep weed seeds from germinating, and then set up regular visits to selectively treat both broadleaf and grassy weeds as needed.

Lime Applications

Lime is often needed in our area to treat acidic soils. Using a soil analysis we can determine if your lawn needs lime, and how much lime to apply. Soils with a low pH are not able to provide adequate nutrition to growing plants, so correcting soil pH issues helps to build a healthy soil.

Core Aeration

Core aeration, or plugging, is one of the most beneficial things you can do for your lawn. Our soils are primarily clay based, so mowing, walking, and general traffic compact the soil. Removing plugs allows water, nutrients, and oxygen into the root zone, and reduces compaction. We use several different pieces of equipment for this process to ensure that plugs are pulled to the optimum depth and spacing.

Overseeding

Adding new grass into your lawn helps to thicken turf and improve the overall stand. This process is often coupled with aeration, which allows the new seedlings to root in the aeration holes and causes the lawn to thicken. Grass types can be adjusted based on existing turf, shade versus sun areas, and your overall goals.

Slit Seeding

Slit seeding is a great solution for lawns with bare or thin patches of turf. Our slit seeding machine has slicing knives that cut through the thatch and open a 1/4-inch slit in the soil. The hopper then drops the seed into the slits, allowing the grass seed to be planted directly into the soil. This method enhances germination.

Grub Control Applications

Grubs are at the larval stage of several species of beetles. They cause damage to your lawn by feeding on the lawn’s root system. Wilted, brown turf is often evidence that your lawn has a grub infestation. Our white grub control treatment, applied in the late summer or early fall, prevents root damage to your turf during infestations.

Mole Control

If you notice moles in your lawn, we can help. We use three different products to eradicate mole populations both above ground and below ground in their active tunnels.

Insect and Disease Control

We can treat your entire lawn to kill any fleas and ticks that are present. We do this with two treatments, 7-14 days apart. This two-step treatment will help protect you and your pets from these pests and the diseases they carry.

Our Customers Say

“We moved in to a new construction home, and the lawn looked to have been seeded with more weed seed than grass seed. Harvey came and did an evaluation of our lawn and determined what type of treatment was needed. The lawn soon looked 500% better! We have been very pleased with the service from Green Care, and because of their hard work we now have a healthy lush green lawn.”

JEREMY BOONE • BLACKSBURG HOMEOWNER

“I put off calling Green Care last year, and finally this spring, I had them start working on my lawn. Within a month, almost of my weeds were gone, and the grass was filling in. In one season, it is a night and day difference! Great job, Harvey and team!”

JOHN FREEBORN • GILES HOMEOWNER

“Green Care did an excellent job mulching and edging our beds at our Radford home. They also do our weekly maintenance. Give them a try – excellent service at a fair price!”
